Acne rosacea?
I have been suffering with acne rosacea for nearly a year and to date nothing that I try seems to work. I have been to the doctor several times. I am allergic to most of what they perscribe and what I am not allergic to just doesn’t help.
The past three months I have been using a skin care system called "Zen Med". It helps a little, but not enough. There are so many treatment options on-line, it can really confuse you as to choosing what is right for you.
Does anyone have any suggestions? And please no "See a dermatologist" suggestions. I have with no results. I haven’t looked "normal" in nearly a year now.

Acne Rosacea is basically plain ol’ Rosacea; never the less, it can be extremely frustrating to deal with. It usually affects people between the ages of 30-50 and, while it affects more women, it tends to be more severe in men.
unfortunately there is no prevention or "cure" for rosacea; however, the patient can help to aleviate some of the symptoms and reduce some of the disorder’s effects such as: using sunscreens with a high SPF, avoiding the sun as much as possible, avoid hot and spicey foods, extreme temperatures and alcohol.
long term treatments (up to 8 weeks) of oral antibiotics will help with skin erruptions while stronger meds such as Accutane will help with lesions even further. You may initially see more breakouts during this period but you need to stick with it in order to see the full benefits of the medications. there are surgical options available if this disorder has advanced to a very severe point.
While the downside of this disorder is that it is not cureable and can be consistant and chronic, the upside is that it is not medically dangersous, it IS manageable with various medications and various other treatment.
Microcurrent is one of those treatments that seem to help those with rosacea. While generally used for facial/body sculpting, microcurrent is one of those products that have "good side effect" and one of them is that it is helpful in evening out skin tone. I have two patients who are currently under going this "lifting procedure" and one of them had rosacea. At first, we noticed her redness disappeared for almost 2 weeks. As we proceeded with her treatments we noticed her rosacea took longer and longer to come back. She now has a treatment once a month and the redness is now at bay for a full month.
I hope you found this helpful. I know going to your doctor wasn’t what you wanted to hear but they have the best medication for treating your problems. But find an esthetician in your area who knows what she’s doing and is familiar with treating Rosacea. See if she uses microcurrent if not, move on till you find someone who’s good and DOES have this equipment.
Good luck to you,
LR
Oral antibiotics of the tetracycline family are probably the strongest bet but can irritate your stomach. Metronidazole ointment has been very effective for me but I had to take it for 3 weeks before it had a significant effect. Use antibacterial soap before applying twice daily. life style changes are of limited value but due help in preventing flareups.
