Are there any products in stores that actually work to treat rosacea (redness of the face disease)?

I have had rosacea now for about two years. My doctor prescribed some metrogel cream for me, but it didn’t do any good. I know about certain procautions I can take such as staying out of the sun as much as possible. I was just wondering if there are any legit store products that might help treat it, or something I can get treated for at a Dr. or dermotologist????? Please help!

I have had rosacea a number of years now. What I have found to help most is to wash my face with a very gentle soap, and my fingertips only! no washcloth, no strong cleansers, and no exfoliating scrubs. I really don’t know of any OTC remedies. but that has helped tremendously! I don’t look embarrased or sunburned anymore!
Adelle Davis discusses this in her book Let’s Get Well. I recommend a good multiple vitamin and a B100 complex tablet daily. If you get no results after taking an entire bottle it probably isn’t going to help. This is a tough condtion to treat. On a wild hair, you might try some MSM cream, or Vitamin E cream.

i also have rosacea but have received such excellent treatment that you can hardly tell now. i also use metrogel and need to use it forever, i guess. that is what my derm told me anyway. the thing that really, really took it away though was not the metrogel, it was V-Beam laser treatment. this particular type of laser targets red in the tissue so it is very good for rosacea. they zap your face with the laser, it does kinda hurt-feels like getting snapped with a rubber band-but to me it was so worth it. i am not afraid of a little pain anyway but at my derms office they tell me that a lot of people complain about it. anyway, you can get some anesthetic if you need it. it is done in the doctors office takes about 30 min to 1 hr. at first, your face will be all blotchy red and purple for about a week, swollen for a day or so. you may want to take off work but i never did, i went to work like that and my doc got 2 new clients because of it !!! you get zapped once a month or so for about 6 months. the results are literally amazing-i kid you not. then you can get maintenance v-beam every few months to keep it up. besides the rosacea, it also diminishes fine lines and increases the collagen content of your skin. now for the bad news, $$$$$. call around for prices, ask specifically if they have the v-beam as it targets mostly red. many offices offer laser but it is not always the V-Beam. the other lasers are not so specifically targetted at red so you may not get as good of a result. call around and see what kind of prices you can get, you usually get a deal if you buy 6 sessions up front. the prices i have paid have ranged from a low of $150 (you may never find this low of a price, i pay it now and will never leave this doctor because of it) to the more avg of 300-500 per session. but it really is worth it and some insurance will cover it as rosacea is a true medical condition. i have kaiser though and they dont cover it but some others might.
