What is the best way for men with light skin to treat moderate, persistent acne on the face? Acutane seems like overkill and is expensive. Pills like oracea or minocin have helped, but they have not given me clear skin, only a reduction in redness and acne. Topicals like finacea or metrogel are useless and irritating because I also have rosacea.
I have tried IPL photofacial and it worked better than anything else, but I am still wondering if there could be an equally effective solution that is less expensive. Or, should I commit to a consistent IPL treatment along with lasers? If so, are there actually any medical spas in CA that have licensed doctors who perform or visually oversee these procedures? The assistants make me too nervous and most standard dermatologists are still behind the times, as they still push useless creams, expensive pills that don’t work and do not have IPL or lasers in their offices. I know that quality treatment will cost money. Expert opinions are welcome!

Well, I started puberty when I was 9, so my face broke out often. Over the years, it appears that I’ve developed a strange cross between acne (not 3d or nothing, VERY flat pimples, and there’s a lot but you can’t really see them because of redness), rosacea, eczema, and possibly more. Every doctor I’ve seen GUESSES that it’s acne. I’ve tried so many creams and pills for ACNE, but this isn’t acne! Acne is much different than this. It’s very difficult to explain, but it’s mostly grungy redness on relatively rough skin, only on my cheeks and the sides of my face down to just before my chin.
Would laser surgery help or something like that? When I wake up in the morning, my face is bumpy (from those weird massive amounts of incredibly tiny pimples I get), but it isn’t red, but 5 minutes later, it’s red AND bumpy.
It’s not red where I have a scar on the side of my face though-the scar is just my normal skin color, along with those non-bumpy 1" spaces from my jaw.
My face annoys me a lot.
And yes, I’ve seen dermatologists too. =( They prescribed accutane and some creams. Accutane was like torture.

ok so a little bit of background that may affect it. when i was like in middle school i had pretty much regular colored arms and everything else except for rosy cheeks. when i hit highschool i noticed about my freshmen year that my arms and face especially my T zone were very red. during a normal day my face is always very red in the tzone ….also my arms (from the finger tips to the elbow) vary from being very red (most of the time) to being mediocre red to being every once in a while normal colored. now one thing i have noticed is that the less stuffy it is or the more open air circulations such as doors or windows the less red i am. my redness does not seem to affect any other parts of my body other then my neck at times (rare) my face all of the time and my arms most of the time. when i am in bed i notice that my skin is very normal colored.i also some times have problems concentrating when i am very red and tend to zone out…. i have heard of rosacea and am wondering if this is something related to that or if it is something related to insuficiant oxygen in the .. also what treatments are there for making my skin a better color and posssibly helping my concentration? i am looking for any treatment but am especially interested in laser related options over any type of lotion that is green based…

Hi everybody! Quick question. I have a mild case of rosacea on my cheeks, and my family reunion is next month and I wanted to get rid of it before then! Are there any home remedies or supplement I can get at a local pharmacy? I have had to deal with this for about 4 years now and I really want to get rid of it! Any info can help. Thanks!
